Staying In, Eating Out, and Sitting Up

Hello from (formerly) snowy Amman! From what I hear, this isn't a terribly regular occurrence, but since this is my first winter here, I can't really comment on that. All I know is that Mom got to stay home last Thursday and when Dad took me out for our walk, there was all this white stuff . . . and it was cold!! Still, Mom & Dad seemed to enjoy it (or at least enjoy taking pictures of me and it), and I have to admit that I liked the snowman right at eye level. Apparently people here build snowmen on top of cars simply because that's where most of the snow collects!
So I guess I can't say that I "stayed in" the whole time it was cold and snowy, but I did seem to notice  that the number of walks seemed to decrease . . . and those we went on seemed a lot shorter. Needless to say, I'm glad that it's warmed up!!

In the mean time, while I was waiting to get out again, I practiced some of my new skills--like turning over, squealing, and sitting up. I'm getting pretty good at that, if I do say so myself. And I've got to say that some of my toys are a heck of a lot easier to play with now that I can sit up on my own . . . at least for a while!
But perhaps the most exciting thing (at least Mom & Dad say it's exciting) is that it looks like spring might be here. The other day, Mom decided to take me out to dinner. I thought that sounded pretty cool: I'd heard Mom & Dad talk about eating out, and I figured I was up to it.

I'm not sure what they normally mean by "eating out," but I've got to say that the food tasted pretty much like the stuff I get at home. Now the atmosphere: that was all right! Mom put my chair on a rock with really cool texture. And I got to see my first "poppy" (think "red flower"). And there was lots of this green stuff they call grass. I think I'm going to like this "spring" stuff.

Hi again! It's been a while, and a lot has been going on, so I figured it was about time for another update. The last two weeks have held quite a few "firsts" for me: first two teeth, first time to roll over more than once at a time (though I'm still not quite sure I see the point to this whole 'rolling over' thing), first food . . . whew!

While that's been keeping me busy, Mom & Dad have been kept busy keeping us all warm--it's been pretty cold here, and Mom even had two 'late start' days because of snow and frost. I never got to see any--our house is too low in elevation, but apparently there was even a few inches of snow on some cars from higher elevations. I still love going outside, though, and most recently I've really enjoyed checking out the bark and leaves on all the trees in our garden: they don't taste all that great, but the texture makes them great for chewing on.

And speaking of chewing, I finally got in on this whole "food" thing. And yes, Mom & Dad have totally been holding out on me! I started with avocado, and that is good stuff: I could eat that all day! Next, though, Mom gave me some of this bright orange stuff she calls squash. Not so sure about that . . . hopefully I'll get some other foods soon and then I'll get to eat less of it!

First food: step one.
Hey, this ain't bad!
First food: step two.
So, do I get to use one of those?

First food step three: So, what am I supposed to do with them?

First food: step four.
Oh! Now I get it!
First food: step five.
See, I can do it myself!
